A professor at Anglia Ruskin University (ARU) has been appointed as a Deputy Lord-Lieutenant of Essex.

Professor Michael Almond, Forces in Mind Trust Professor of Veterans and Families Studies at ARU, was recommended for the appointment by current Lord-Lieutenant Jennifer Tolhurst - who is the Queen's representative in the county.
