Cherokee Nation: Tribal Council Approves Sallie Byrd Sevenstar Community Center, Election Code Act in October

TAHLEQUAH, Oklahoma, Oct. 17 -- The Cherokee Nation, a federally-recognized Native American tribe, issued the following news release:

The Council of the Cherokee Nation approved this week renaming the current Belfonte-Nicut Community Center after Cherokee Nation citizen and fluent Cherokee speaker Sallie Byrd Sevenstar, who passed away on August 24.
