MOUNTAINSIDE, New Jersey, Sept. 23 -- Bob Hugin, the Republican nominee for the Senate, issued the following statement on his invitation to participate in the Dominican Parade of Hudson County:

"A person would have to be really petty to feel threatened by his political opponent being in the same parade, but apparently Bob Menendez is.

"I would never stoop to that level and it's unfortunate that someone who has been in Washington for 25 years -- and Hudson Coun . . .
