Cherokee Nation Donates $25,000 to Big Cabin Volunteer Fire Department

TAHLEQUAH, Oklahoma, May 16 -- The Cherokee Nation, a federally-recognized Native American tribe, issued the following news release:

Cherokee Nation officials recently presented a $25,000 check to the Big Cabin Volunteer Fire Department to help the department purchase a new fire engine.

The $25,000 donation was made from public safety and special projects funding that was requested by Tribal Council Deputy Speaker Victoria Vazquez and approved by Principal Chief Bill Jo . . .
