Tribal Council Issues Precautionary Evacuation for Flood Area

AKWESASNE, New York, Feb. 21 -- The St. Regis Mohawk Tribe, a federally-recognized Native American tribe, issued the following news release:

The Saint Regis Mohawk Tribal Council issued a precautionary evacuation order this afternoon for the flood area located along the St. Regis River. The precautionary evacuation order is in response to increasing water levels monitored by the USGS at Brasher Center and observations by local first responders.
