Arms Control Association: Trump Administration's Landmine Policy Reversal a Dangerous Mistake, Requires Congressional Action (10)
WASHINGTON, Jan. 31 -- The Arms Control Association issued the following news release:
According to multiple press reports, the Trump administration is poised to rescind former President Barack Obama's 2014 directive to no longer "produce or otherwise acquire any anti-personnel landmines," known as APLs, which are small explosive devices placed under, on, or near the ground. House Oversight & Reform Committee Issues Report on Fair Chance Act (10)
WASHINGTON, Jan. 29 -- The House Oversight and Reform Committee issued a report (H.Rpt. 116-380) on the Fair Chance Act (H.R. 1076), which prohibits federal agencies and federal contractors from requesting that an applicant for employment disclose criminal history record information before the applicant has received a conditional offer. The report was advanced by Rep. Carolyn B. Maloney, D-New York, on Jan. 24.
