WASHINGTON, July 22 -- The Corporation for National and Community Service issued the following statement by CEO Barbara Stewart on the death of Rep. John Lewis, D-Georgia:

HAMPTON, Virginia, July 20 -- Hampton University issued the following news release:
Hampton University president, Dr. William R. Harvey and the entire Hampton University community are mourning the loss of a powerful champion of human rights who gave voice to the needs of those whose voices were stifled if not silenced, through oppression and disenfranchisement. Congressman Lewis passed away on Friday after a six-month battle with cancer. He was 80.
