WASHINGTON, Sept. 24 -- The U.S. Department of Justice, through its Bureau of Justice Assistance, has announced a funding opportunity aimed at addressing the backlog in DNA processing within crime laboratories. The BJA FY 2026 DNA Capacity Enhancement for Backlog Reduction Competitive Grants Program offers up to $4.9 million to eligible applicants, which include other units of local government such as towns, boroughs, parishes, and villages.
