WASHINGTON, Sept. 22 -- The U.S. Department of Justice, through its Bureau of Justice Assistance, has announced a funding opportunity aimed at enhancing legal representation in state capital cases. The Capital Case Litigation Initiative is designed to bolster the effectiveness of prosecutors and improve the quality of defense attorneys who represent indigent defendants in jurisdictions that authorize capital punishment.
