WASHINGTON, May 1 -- The U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development has announced the Self-Help Homeownership Opportunity Program (SHOP), aimed at promoting affordable housing through self-help programs. This initiative will provide financial assistance ranging from $1.1 million to $12 million to local organizations and non-profits focused on developing affordable homeownership options for low-income families.
