WASHINGTON, April 13 -- The U.S. Department of Education Office of Special Education and Rehabilitative Services proposed budget for fiscal year 2027 totals approximately $20.9 billion, reflecting a comprehensive federal investment in supporting individuals with disabilities from early childhood through adulthood. The largest portion of this funding is dedicated to Special Education programs under the Individuals with Disabilities Education Act (IDEA), which receive $16.03 billion.
