WASHINGTON, March 27 -- Sen. Chris Van Hollen, D-MD, has introduced the Working Americans' Tax Cut Act, aimed at amending the Internal Revenue Code to alleviate tax burdens for low- and middle-income individuals while implementing a new surcharge on high-income earners.
The proposed legislation seeks to establish a new alternative maximum tax for qualified individuals, limiting their tax obligations to 25.5% of their modified adjusted gross income above a cost-of-living exemption. . . .
