WASHINGTON, March 17 -- Sen. Kirsten E. Gillibrand, D-NY, has introduced the Puerto Rico Nutrition Assistance Fairness Act, aimed at transitioning Puerto Rico from its current nutrition assistance program to the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP). This legislation seeks to amend the Food and Nutrition Act of 2008, ensuring that Puerto Rico's residents have access to equitable food assistance comparable to what is available in the mainland United States.
