WASHINGTON, Dec. 14 -- The U.S. Department of Transportation, through its child agency Federal Railroad Administration, has announced a major grant opportunity aimed at enhancing the operations of the National Railroad Passenger Corporation, commonly known as Amtrak. The grant, part of the FY26 National Network Cooperative Agreement, has an award ceiling of $427.7 million, which is intended to support Amtrak's operating, capital, and debt service needs through January 31, 2029.
