WASHINGTON, Sept. 16 -- The Ensuring Accurate and Complete Abortion Data Reporting Act of 2025 (S. 178), introduced by Sen. Joni Ernst, R-IA, on January 22, 2025, has been analyzed by the Congressional Research Service. This legislation aims to improve the accuracy and comprehensiveness of abortion data reported by states to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) by making reporting a mandatory condition for federal Medicaid funding related to family planning services.
