WASHINGTON, Sept. 16 -- The Amtrak Transparency Act (S. 174), introduced by Sen. Deb Fischer, R-NE, on January 21, 2025, has been analyzed by the Congressional Research Service. This legislation aims to enhance openness and accountability within Amtrak by implementing stricter public disclosure and meeting requirements for the Amtrak Board of Directors.
The bill mandates that Amtrak's Board of Directors must adhere to federal open meeting requirements under the Government in the Sun . . .
