WASHINGTON, Sept. 12 -- The U.S. Department of Justice, through its Bureau of Justice Assistance, has launched the BJA FY25 DNA Capacity Enhancement for Backlog Reduction (CEBR) Competitive Grants Program, aiming to bolster the capabilities of state and local crime laboratories in DNA analysis. This initiative is designed to enhance public safety by facilitating the processing of DNA samples for entry into the Combined DNA Index System (CODIS), thereby aiding in crime resolution.
