WASHINGTON, Aug. 13 -- Sen. Margaret Wood Hassan, D-NH, has introduced the Medication Affordability and Patent Integrity Act, aiming to enhance transparency and accountability within the pharmaceutical industry. The bill seeks to require drug application sponsors and patentee holders to provide consistent submissions and communications to both the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) and the United States Patent and Trademark Office (USPTO).
