WASHINGTON, Aug. 13 -- Sen. Brian Schatz, D-HI, has introduced the Pacific Ready Coast Guard Act, aimed at enhancing the operational effectiveness of the U.S. Coast Guard in the Pacific region through a mandated annual planning and budgetary process.
The bill requires the Commandant of the Coast Guard to submit an annual plan and detailed budget for operations in the Pacific by specified deadlines, which are intended to align with both Department of State and Department of Defense . . .
