WASHINGTON, March 31 -- Sen. Deb Fischer, R-NE, has introduced the Protecting Rural Seniors' Access to Care Act, aimed at prohibiting the Secretary of Health and Human Services from enforcing a contentious rule regarding minimum staffing levels in nursing facilities. The legislation seeks to shield rural seniors from potential care disruptions while simultaneously establishing an advisory panel to strengthen the nursing home workforce.
