WASHINGTON, Feb. 2 -- The Defense Advanced Research Projects Agency (DARPA) has announced a groundbreaking funding opportunity under the Sources for Ultraviolet Nuclear Spectroscopy of Thorium (SUNSPOT) program.

This initiative seeks innovative research proposals to develop highly coherent vacuum ultraviolet (VUV) radiation sources for advanced nuclear spectroscopy, specifically targeting the 229m-Th nuclear isomeric transition.
