WASHINGTON, Dec. 9 -- Sen. Peter Welch, D-Vt., introduced the "Livestock Owned by Communities to Advance Local Foods Act" on Sept. 19, 2024. The text of the bill was released on Dec. 8.

S. 5106. A bill to amend the Federal Meat Inspection Act to exempt certain owners of livestock from inspection requirements, and for other purposes; to the Committee on Agriculture, Nutrition, and Forestry.

The bill is cosponsored by Sens. Cory Booker, D-N.J., and Bernie Sanders, I-Vt.
