WASHINGTON, Oct. 7 -- Sen. Mazie K. Hirono, D-Hawaii, introduced the "Protecting and Preserving Social Security Act" on July 31, 2024. The text of the bill was released on Sept. 29.
S. 4877. A bill to amend title II of the Social Security Act and the Internal Revenue Code of 1986 to make improvements in the old-age, survivors, and disability insurance program; to the Committee on Finance.
The bill is cosponsored by Sens. Jeff Merkley, D-Ore., and Tina Smith, D-Minn.
