WASHINGTON, Nov. 16 -- Sen. Jeff Merkley, D-Ore., introduced the "Medical Debt Relief Act" on Oct. 19, 2023. The text of the bill was released on Nov. 12.
S. 3103. A bill to amend the Fair Credit Reporting Act to prohibit the inclusion of medical debt on a consumer report, and for other purposes; to the Committee on Banking, Housing, and Urban Affairs.
The bill is cosponsored by Sens. Robert Menendez, D-N.J., John Fetterman, D-Pa., and Richard Blumenthal, D-Conn.
