WASHINGTON, June 12 -- Sen. Angus S. King Jr., I-Maine, has introduced legislation (S. 2001) to amend the Federal Meat Inspection Act "to exempt from inspection the slaughter of animals and the preparation of carcasses conducted at a custom slaughter facility."
The bill was introduced on June 10 and has six co-sponsors. Co-sponsors include Sens. Rand Paul, R-Ky., John Hoeven, R-N.D., Kevin Cramer, R-N.D., Marsha Blackburn, R-Tenn., Mike Lee, R-Utah, and Mike Braun, R-Ind.
