WASHINGTON, June 11 -- Sen. Catherine Cortez Masto, D-Nev., has introduced legislation (S. 1963) to amend the Higher Education Act of 1965 "to direct the Secretary of Education to award institutions of higher education grants for teaching English learners."
The bill was introduced on June 8 and was co-sponsored by Sen. John Cornyn, R-Texas. It was referred to the Senate Health, Education, Labor, and Pensions Committee.
