WASHINGTON, March 3 -- Sen. Edward J. Markey, D-Mass., has introduced legislation (S. 492) to amend the Revised Statues "to remove the defense of qualified immunity in the case of any action under section 1979."
The bill was introduced on March 1 and was co-sponsored by Sens. Elizabeth Warren, D-Mass., and Bernie Sanders, I-Vt. It was referred to the Senate Judiciary Committee.
