WASHINGTON, Feb. 26 -- Sen. Debbie Stabenow, D-Mich., has introduced legislation (S. 452) to "award a Congressional Gold Medal to Willie O'Ree, in recognition of his extraordinary contributions and commitment to hockey, inclusion, and recreational opportunity."
The bill was introduced on Feb. 25 and was co-sponsored by Sen. Tim Scott, R-S.C. It was referred to the Senate Banking, Housing, and Urban Affairs Committee.
