WASHINGTON, June 6 -- Sen. Kirsten Gillibrand, D-N.Y., has introduced legislation (S. 3895) to amend section 242 of title 18, U.S. Code, "to include the use of chokeholds and carotid holds as a deprivation of rights and as a punishment, pain, or penalty."
The bill was introduced on June 4 and was co-sponsored by Sens. Elizabeth Warren, D-Mass., Tina Smith, D-Minn., and Amy Klobuchar, D-Minn. It was referred to the Senate Judiciary Committee.
