WASHINGTON, March 21 -- Sen. Charles E. Schumer, D-N.Y., has introduced legislation (S. 3540) to "prohibit public companies from repurchasing their shares on the open market."
The bill was introduced on March 19 and was co-sponsored by Sens. Tammy Baldwin, D-Wis., Richard Blumenthal, D-Conn., Edward J. Markey, D-Mass., and Bernie Sanders, I-Vt. It was referred to the Senate Banking, Housing, and Urban Affairs Committee.
