WASHINGTON, Sept. 19 -- Sen. Robert Casey Jr., D-Pa., has introduced legislation (S. 2496) to amend title II of the Social Security Act "to eliminate the Medicare and disability insurance benefits waiting periods for disabled individuals."
The bill was introduced on Sept. 18 and was co-sponsored by Sens. Sherrod Brown, D-Ohio, Patrick J. Leahy, D-Vt., and Bernie Sanders, I-Vt. It was referred to the Senate Finance Committee.
