WASHINGTON, July 20 - The U.S. Department of Transportation's Federal Railroad Administration announced that it intends to award a $400,000 cooperative agreement to the National Academy of Sciences for the investigation of innovative concepts and methods to improve safety and performance of railroads.
The agency description of the grant states: "The Federal Railroad Administration (FRA) endeavors to provide funding for the Transportation Research Board (TRB) of the National Academy . . .
