WASHINGTON, Feb. 20 -- The Government Accountability Office has issued a report on unclaimed retirement savings transferred to states. The report (GAO-19-88) is titled "Retirement Accounts: Federal Action Needed to Clarify Tax Treatment of Unclaimed 401(k) Plan Savings Transferred to States".
The report was sent to Sen. Ron Wyden, D-Oregon, ranking member of the Senate Finance Committee, on Jan. 18. Here are excerpts of summaries associated with the report.
