Sen. Brown Introduces Bill to Establish Excise Tax on Prescription Drugs


WASHINGTON, Feb. 9 -- Sen. Sherrod Brown, D-Ohio, has introduced legislation (S. 378) to amend the Internal Revenue Code of 1986 "to establish an excise tax on certain prescription drugs which have been subject to a price spike."

The bill was introduced on Feb. 7 and was co-sponsored by Sens. Kirsten Gillibrand, D-N.Y., and Margaret Wood Hassan, D-N.H. It was referred to the Senate Finance Committee.
