WASHINGTON, Sept. 19 -- Sen. Edward J. Markey, D-Mass., has introduced legislation (S. 3445) to amend title XIX of the Social Security Act "to require States to suspend, rather than terminate, an individual's eligibility for medical assistance under the State Medicaid plan while such individual is an inmate of a public institution."
The bill was introduced on Sept. 17. It was referred to the Senate Finance Committee.
