WASHINGTON, June 20 -- Sen. Jeff Merkley, D-Ore., has introduced legislation (S. 3084) to "require the Secretary of Homeland Security and the Secretary of Health and Human Services to allow Members of Congress to tour detention facilities that house unaccompanied alien children."
The bill was introduced on June 18 and was co-sponsored by Sens. Ron Wyden, D-Ore., and Chris Van Hollen, D-Md. It was referred to the Senate Judiciary Committee.
