WASHINGTON, May 18 -- Sen. Richard Blumenthal, D-Conn., has introduced legislation (S. 2871) to amend the Omnibus Crime Control and Safe Streets Act of 1968 "to extend public safety officers' death benefits to fire police officers."
The bill was introduced on May 16 and was co-sponsored by Sen. Patrick Toomey, R-Pa., and Christopher S. Murphy, D-Conn. It was referred to the Senate Judiciary Committee.
