WASHINGTON, April 21 -- Sen. Kirsten Gillibrand, D-N.Y., has introduced legislation (S. 2723) to amend the Food and Nutrition Act of 2008 "to require that supplemental nutrition assistance program benefits for children be calculated with reference to the cost of the low-cost food plan, as determined by the Secretary of Agriculture."
The bill was introduced on April 19 and was co-sponsored by Sens. Cory Booker, D-N.J., Bernie Sanders, I-Vt., Elizabeth Warren, D-Mass., and Kamala D. H . . .
