WASHINGTON, March 17 -- Sen. Robert Menendez, D-N.J., has introduced legislation (S. 2562) to "posthumously award a Congressional Gold Medal to Alice Paul in recognition of her role in the women's suffrage movement and in advancing equal rights for women."
The bill was introduced on March 15 and was co-sponsored by Sen. Susan M. Collins, R-Maine. It was referred to the Senate Banking, Housing, and Urban Affairs Committee.
