GAO Issues Report on Imported Seafood Safety

WASHINGTON, Oct. 3 -- The Government Accountability Office has issued a report on how Food and Drug Administration helps ensure the safety of imported seafood from unsafe drug residues and ways the agency could strengthen its efforts. The report (GAO-17-443) is titled "Imported Seafood Safety: FDA and USDA Could Strengthen Efforts to Prevent Unsafe Drug Residues".

The report was sent to Sen. Thad Cochran, R-Miss., chairman of the Senate Appropriations Committee, on Sept. 15. Here . . .
