WASHINGTON, Oct. 7 -- Sen. Sherrod Brown, D-Ohio, has introduced legislation (S. 1947) to "improve food safety, to encourage greater production of agricultural commodities for use in the locality of production, to reauthorize and expand Department of Agriculture support of those efforts."
The bill was introduced on Oct. 5. It was referred to the Senate Agriculture, Nutrition, and Forestry Committee.
