WASHINGTON, Jan. 23 -- The U.S. Department of Justice's Bureau of Justice Assistance announced that it intends to award up to three discretionary grants for the Officer Safety and Wellness Initiative in response to the startling increase in felonious assaults that have taken the lives of many law enforcement officers.
