REGULATING PRIVATE INVESTORS: The House has passed the Investment Advisers Modernization Act. The bill would order the Securities and Exchange Commission to revise and relax some of its regulations of investment advisers as they apply to private equity firms and private investment funds. The vote was 261 yeas to 145 nays.
