WASHINGTON, Feb. 23 -- The U.S. Health and Human Services Department's National Institutes of Health has announced that it expects to award discretionary grants for innovative grant applications on biological and genetic research to explore disease mechanisms or pathways that influence health outcomes in minority and health disparity populations; and clinical and translational research linking basic science discovery with effective treatment or clinical practice.
